Why brands choose, and succeed with Quirky Digital

When we say Quirky is THE agency for ambitious brands, we say so with the benefit of time served working on those exact brands and delivering measurable, organic growth in sessions and rankings but, above all, revenue.

We work like search works

While other agencies add services one after the other to grow accounts, we don’t separate technical SEO, content and Digital PR into optional extras, because search doesn’t either. When we approach SEO, we do so holistically – just as search and discovery algorithms do, with every aspect of your organic visibility tackled concurrently to deliver the best results.

Senior strategists lead every campaign

Your team and your SEO service is guaranteed to be owned by one of our top senior SEO strategists – expert individual contributors with a deep knowledge and understanding of what works in your specific vertical. At every stage, we make sure that you’re getting the best results possible by putting our best people on the case.

Commercial KPIs before vanity metrics

Sure, impressions are great, but if those impressions are for the wrong key terms, they’re wasted, if they’re for the right terms but aren’t turning into clicks, they’re wasted, and if those clicks aren’t generating revenue, they’re wasted too. We focus on the bottom line, on the numbers which matter – and that’s why we’ll agree on a set of commercially important KPIs at the commencement of any engagement – so you can hold us to account, so we can hold ourselves to account, and so we can celebrate together when we deliver.

Transparent reporting

We don’t try to blind you with endless reporting, we want to respect your time and your ambitions – so our reporting is clear, it’s concise, it’s designed to give you a quick understanding of our performance against the KPIs that matter to you. Looking to improve your coverage in key vertical searches? That’s what we’ll show you. Want to know how we’re impacting your revenue? We’ll show you that too. We want you to look forward to reporting week – however unlikely that may seem!

Experience across highly competitive industries

When we say we love what we do, our decision to focus on the verticals we do should prove that beyond doubt. SEO has only increased in difficulty in the decades we’ve been involved – but not only has that not diminished our enthusiasm for the profession, it’s driven us to seek success in the most difficult verticals in search. In fintech, finance, healthcare, legal, gaming and sectors dealing with heavy regulation, YMYL requirements, and more. We don’t just survive in the toughest sectors in search, we thrive.

Strong focus on authority building for both Google and LLM visibility

Because we work in the most difficult verticals in search, we know how important it is to build durable, sustainable and defendable authority. That hasn’t changed in the era of LLM discovery. In fact, authority is arguably the key factor in modern visibility. Your brand needs to demonstrate that you’re a reputable, trustworthy authority, it needs to earn its place in search and discovery results – and we make that happen.

Long-term partnerships rather than short-term wins

New clients are great – that’s why we’ve built this page and why we’re making our case to you now – but how Quirky Digital primarily grows is by growing our clients. We understand that ‘partner’ has become one of the many terms agencies throw around, but we want to be there for the long haul, we want to get you to the top, and we want to keep you there.

Why SEO is Vital for Success in Competitive, YMYL and Heavily Regulated Verticals

We have seen SEO help to establish and grow businesses in ecommerce, D2C and B2B verticals of all kinds, our team – during extensive careers – have helped deliver organic revenue growth in most of them, but nowhere is it more important than in the sectors we have chosen to service primarily.

In what has come to be known as ‘your money or your life’ (YMYL) verticals, those in which companies offer goods and services which have the capacity to directly impact on the financial and/or physical wellbeing of the customer, Google requires brands not just to abide by standard rules and the advice to ‘create great content’, but also to meet a series of human and algorithmically measured criteria which are intended to make sure that top ranking brands in such spaces are those that are providing products which Google can stand by and defend.

These criteria are referred to in Google documentation as EEAT, standing for experience, expertise, authority and trustworthiness and, though they’re increasingly important in search and discovery more broadly, are integral to search success in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and many more.

Demonstration of experience is achieved in several ways and should be assessable both by human quality raters and algorithms alike. That means there should be clear machine and human readable expressions of experience in the goods and services provided by the brand – whether that’s in relevant content, expert review processes, author attribution, in structured data and more, or use of clear experiential language in text and video, Google wants to be sure that the brands it is recommending in search have clear and demonstrated experience with the goods and services they’re selling.

Again, this is about provable competence, and easily understandable signals for humans and bots alike – meaning that, again, these signals should be both human and machine readable – or in copy and structured data. In this case, this will include things like required and clearly identified industry qualifications and/or certifications, governing bodies, regulatory standards, identifiable policies and more. All of which should be communicated in text and structured data, allowing algorithms to quickly identify that not only is your brand ticking the boxes for relevance of content, but also that you can be assessed as having the necessary expertise to be ranked for highly sensitive search terms.

Authority is a sitewide requirement, but not something you can adequately assess from a site’s DA or other SaaS platform score, because while links play a part in assessment of EEAT at an algorithmic level, much more goes into authority – Google, for example, puts it like this: “a local business profile page on social media may be the authoritative and trusted source for what is on sale now. The official government page for getting a passport is the unique, official, and authoritative source for passport renewal” so authority is situation specific – but there are ways that it can be implicitly stated, from the job title and individual authority of the content author, to the length of time a site has been established and its history in the vertical

This, like authority, is situational, but is also a conferred trait – and it’s where digital PR often comes into the SEO services mix. Google and other search and discovery platforms have always used external trust signals to rank and rerank content. That is, afterall, what PageRank was in the beginning. Linked and unlinked citations are key here – and the more you can amass from trusted vertical specific publishers, or seed sites (think governmental sites, or reputable news organisations). It’s more than just this, however, and Google represents trust as a circle overlapping each of the other three aspects in a Venn diagram.

WHO

how

WHO

And the aim, according to Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines is to clearly show:

In regulated industries, in YMYL verticals – the verticals in which Quirky Digital has chosen to specialise – this is all part and parcel of SEO. It’s not something you need to bolt on in addition to keyword research and content production, it is integral to good SEO because, without it, you’re only satisfying half of the necessary criteria to succeed in your niche.

Our Managed SEO Services

SEO has come a long way since you could get away with a load of keywords in white text on a white background, but while organic search may be increasingly platform agnostic (not enormously, mind – the vast majority of searches still take place on Google), it requires a holistic approach to growth that many agencies can’t or won’t deliver.

Technical SEO will only get you so far, but so too will content and, while it’s probably got the best chances in the short term, digital PR is less effective on its own than it is with the help of complementary services.

That’s why our service offering isn’t split into unique add-ons, it’s split solely so you can see what each specific element of our organic growth strategies is delivering. You won’t get special treatment in the SERPs for exceptionally well executed technical SEO, but when it’s combined with hard and consistent work across all aspects of search and all known and inferred ranking signals, that’s where SEO begins to deliver real ROI.

Our ‘Done for You’ Approach to SEO

Our approach to SEO service provision is built around a simple principle: your team should be able to focus on running your business, not managing your agency vendors.

Rather than relying on endless meetings, approval cycles, project management catch-ups or any other bucket of non-contributing tasks, Quirky Digital takes full accountability for and ownership of the entire SEO process. From strategy and planning through to technical implementation, content, optimisation, link building and reporting, we manage every stage proactively, adapting quickly as search evolves and opportunities emerge.

You’ll work directly with experienced SEO specialists to help deliver faster decisions, clearer communication, and advice grounded in practical expertise. We believe transparency comes from meaningful conversations around measurable business outcomes, not from lengthy reports that end up filed away rather than read.

Where automation and AI can improve efficiency, we’ll use them. Where commercial judgement, creativity and strategic thinking are required, that’s where our specialists are key to success. This combination allows us to deliver an SEO service that is proactive rather than reactive, accountable, process-driven, and always focused on long-term growth rather than short-term bursts of activity.

Our role as we see it is to become an extension of your business: taking responsibility for its organic growth, and removing unnecessary friction to deliver an SEO service that frees you to be as hands-off as you want while remaining fully informed on progress.

This is how we work at Quirky

Many SEO agencies follow the same process regardless of the industry. We don’t. Every strategy we develop is shaped by your market, your competitors and how your customers actually search.
We benchmark your business against the competitors that matter most – not generic industry averages. By understanding where they outperform you and where they’re vulnerable, we uncover the opportunities that will have the greatest impact on your organic growth.
We don’t rely on templated roadmaps or recycled recommendations. Every content, technical and authority strategy is built around your competitive landscape, helping you focus on the work that’s most likely to improve visibility, build authority and drive long-term growth.
Every month, you’ll know exactly what we’ve delivered, the impact it’s had and what we’re focusing on next. We report on the metrics that matter, connecting organic visibility to the search terms, enquiries and commercial outcomes that drive your business.
As search changes, your strategy needs to keep pace. Every retainer combines proven SEO with a focus on LLM visibility, helping your brand earn recognition across both traditional search and AI engines.

How We Do Things

How We Deliver Such Strong Results through Our SEO Services

Offering, margins, competition, customer demographics, buyer’s journeys and regulatory landscapes all shape what effective SEO looks like, and though we apply a consistent strategic framework, the reason our strategies achieve results is that execution is always tailored to meet the unique needs of every client.

This means our team of dedicated SEO professionals are always looking to prioritise those areas of our extensive service offering which will have the greatest commercial impact – and they’re doing that at every stage, for each of their clients. Based on extensive experience with, research and auditing of your market, site, and objectives, we are always working with the bottom line in mind, prioritising ROI at every step.

#1 Knowing your goals

A collaborative approach is key to our client’s success – we’ll work with you and your team, develop a comprehensive understanding of what your goals are, and where we can develop a unique strategy to empower you and your business. The more we understand, the more we can help.

#2 A complete website SEO audit

Once we know where you want to go, we begin working out what it will take to get you there. We carry out a comprehensive SEO audit, allowing us to tailor your strategy, target quick wins and revenue drivers, and scope the overall project. We assess which areas are likely to deliver the most significant returns, but also leverage what you already do well to help us move more quickly.

#3 Evaluate your competition

One of the richest resources for improvement, whether you’re a market leader or challenger brand, is your competitors. We thoroughly audit your matched competitors (and, if it makes sense, any aspirational competitors), to find out what and how we can learn from them, and what we can do to improve your chances of taking market share and share of voice from them.

#4 Keyword Research

We make it our mission to work both on capturing the top position for the keywords you already know about, but also to uncover and compete for the keywords you may not know about – those that will hopefully deliver additional avenues for organic search growth whatever the search surface.

#5 Writing SEO-optimised content

Human written content, and the authority that it creates for a brand, has only grown in importance during the age of LLM and AI powered search – and that’s true in whatever vertical you operate. Content converts, it demonstrates expertise, answers customer queries, shows search algorithms that you’re trustworthy and deserving of recommendation when customers are searching.

#6 Build your website authority

People want to know that your brand is trustworthy, so too do the various algorithms that power search. One of the key ways to prove that is to be featured in the press, and by trusted publishers in your vertical. Building high-quality links is about demonstrating your expertise to help you be seen as a high authority site in your own right. Our long established journalist and publisher relationships are harnessed to improve your reputation, authority and rankings.

Frequently asked questions

SEO costs vary (and often wildly) depending on the competitiveness of the niche, the size of the website and the level of support required. It’s not uncommon for businesses to be investing between £2,000 and £10,000 per month, with larger brands and businesses in highly competitive or highly regulated industries often investing more. We’d love to be able to add a click to buy price, but we build every strategy around your brand, your goals, the opportunities and your budget, making sure you’re investing in activity that will move the needle in an acceptable timeframe.

We work with all major CMS platforms, from Wix and Squarespace to Shopify, WordPress and WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce (Magento), BigCommerce and more (we’ll warn you now, a wholly vibe coded website is probably going to end up needing a lot of work – but we’ll happily help out). We know the unique challenges of the major CMSs, and we regularly develop strategies to overcome them all.

SEO is designed to enhance one of the last remaining ‘owned’ online assets. Since Web 2.0, the number of walled gardens has been on the rise, meaning that brands can lose vital revenue at a moment’s notice. Any ecommerce brand relying on TikTok Shop will have seen exactly that kind of difficulty over the last few years. Throughout all of these changes, however, websites have continued to allow brands to earn long-term security, and organic revenue growth. By contrast, PPC (Pay-Per-Click) is able to deliver immediate traffic and sales, but only thanks to visibility which is charged at a premium, and that ceases as soon as you switch off your ads.

We can. Search has been really hard on a lot of brands over the last few years – and if you’ve managed to ride out the shifting algorithm, expanding search feature appearances, and the rise in zero-click searches so far – you deserve a pat on the back. All of the many and varied changes to search since the introduction of Position Zero (rich results) all those years ago have left brands with reduced traffic and a need to rethink strategies. Any engagement with Quirky Digital will always look to uncover exactly what has caused your drop in rankings, and our experts are then equipped with the tools and experience to help you recover.

No ethical agency can. We’ve yet to encounter a business that can’t achieve measurable organic growth given time and effort, but the truth is that SEO is a combination of several skills and requires persistent, well directed activity and time. Given enough time and activity, most businesses will be able to make some kind of headway in search – but not everyone. What we can guarantee is that prior to commencement of any contract with Quirky Digital, you’ll know that we not only believe we can rank your site, but also how we intend to do it.

There is no one answer to this question – some brands will benefit from the presence of some overlooked low hanging fruit that helps us deliver significant improvements quickly, but often the work required to boost organic search visibility is front-loaded, meaning that it can take time for its real impact to be felt. We tend to say that SEO is a process rather than a project – and usually advise that revenue impact should be expected from approximately the six-month mark, with returns ramping up to month twelve and beyond. Fortunately the impact of good SEO compounds, so you’ll see the benefit of that early foundational work for years to come.

Yes, and we’re very good at it (and getting better all the time). Although the majority of searches are still made via Google, we know search is no longer entirely limited to that platform (and it’s been interesting to see Bing climb above 5% of global searches for the first time recently). People are finding brands in a huge variety of ways – and AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity all play their part. This means brands need visibility beyond traditional search results, and our Generative Engine Optimisation service helps businesses build the authority, trust, and digital presence required to improve visibility in the search everywhere era.

We live SEO. Our team doesn’t stop testing and tweaking at 5pm, we own and grow websites in some of the most competitive industries online. From finance to healthcare, and many high-trust sectors in between, we’re constantly testing strategies, analysing search behaviour and overcoming Google’s latest updates on our own assets before rolling them out to clients. Our ambition was to build the agency we’ve always wanted to work for – one where our natural curiosity and drive was rewarded. We think we’ve done that – and wins at the Global Search Awards for both Finance SEO and B2B SEO should go a little way to backing us up.

Yes. While most of our clients work with us on an ongoing basis, we also provide standalone technical SEO audits, migration support, content audits, AI search visibility reviews and consultancy projects. Whether you need a second opinion, support with a specific issue or a roadmap for your internal team to implement, we’re happy to help. Many of our long-term client relationships started with a one-off project.
